General landform divisions
Landform divisions are different elevations in our land featuring mountains, hills, plateaus, valleys and plains. Australia Is divided into four major landform divisions including the western plateau, the central lowlands, the eastern highlands and the coastal plains. The Northern Territory mainly consists of the central lowlands and the northern plateau. It is made up of highlands, hills, plateaus and plains.
Specific Landforms
These are only some of many fantastic and picturesque landforms of the northern territory. Some of these landforms consist of rivers, mountain, gorges and huge rocks.
Uluru
Uluru, also known as Ayers Rock is found in the south of the Northern Territory. Uluru is a huge rock formation made out of sandstone and is famous for changing colours at different times of the day. The closest town to Uluru is Alice springs. Uluru is also a world heritage sight.
Devil Marbles
Devils marbles also known as Karlu Karlu are huge granite rock formations. These rocks are also surrounded by tons of sandstone. These unusually shaped rocks balance on and against each other in such surprising ways forming an unforgettable landscape.
Katherine Gorge
The Katherine Gorge is made up of thirteen different gorges each surrounded by the tall sand stone villas. Wildlife isn't hard to find in this amazing part of the Northern Territory. Fresh and salt water crocodiles live in the Katherine gorge along with other amazing wildlife.
